Shock for travelers – At a railway crossing: motorist hit by train

A car crashed into an Aspangbahn train in Möllersdorf in the Baden district (Lower Austria) on Wednesday. The driver of the car may have missed the stop sign.

Around 11.15 am, a motorist collided with an Aspangbahn train at an unrestricted level crossing in Möllersdorf. According to initial information, the man may have missed the stop sign. The car was thrown off the track and came to rest on a grass verge.

Shocked passengers
The driver of the accident was lucky; he suffered only minor injuries and was transported to hospital in Baden. The approximately 15 passengers on the train were unharmed. For some children, however, the shock was profound. They had to be calmed down by the ambulance crew.

The Möllersdorf fire brigade recovered the accident vehicle with a crane. The railway was interrupted for a short time.
