OBI HIDDEN TALENTS – OBI is looking for hidden talents

Date:

True to the motto “HIDDEN TALENTS”, OBI is currently looking for interns and dual students. With creative campaigns, from the student market to the largest hide-and-seek game in Austria, the DIY store shows how cool a job at OBI is and what hidden talents lie dormant in its employees.

From 27 July to 10 August, the OBI apprentice market took place, where almost 100 apprentices and dual students from all over Austria independently ran the OBI DIY store in Spittal an der Drau. For two weeks, they took full responsibility for all processes in the store: from organisation to sales to managing teams. This intensive experience is part of OBI’s strategy to support young talent and give them the opportunity to further develop their skills in a real working environment.

“We know that there is a hidden talent in each of us, waiting to be discovered. At OBI, we offer our employees the chance to develop their hidden talents and grow in a supportive environment,” says Bettina Braun, Regional Head of People & Transformation Austria & Switzerland at OBI. “Our apprentice market is a great opportunity for our young talents to sharpen their technical and social skills.”

Play hide and seek and shop for free
In early August, the OBI market in Spittal an der Drau became the stage for Austria’s most exciting game of hide-and-seek: “OBI HIDE & WIN”. Five brave participants transformed the DIY store into a huge play area and demonstrated their hiding skills. Participant Emrah remained unnoticed the longest and was able to shop for free for 120 seconds, earning a lot of money in the process.

OBI students take on social responsibility
At OBI, social responsibility is very important. In the past, numerous initiatives throughout Austria have been supported as part of various apprenticeship projects. This year, apprentices and dual students also worked for a good cause at the apprenticeship market: they painted the building of the non-profit organization Rettet DAS KIND – Kärnten. The proceeds from the lottery at “OBI HIDE & WIN” also went to the non-profit organization.
