After being photographed, the fish, weighing 80 to 60 kilos, were released back into the Oberdorf-Rotenturm pond.
Last Friday there was a real “Petri Heil” for hobby fisherman Bernd Horvath from Kohfidisch. The passionate southern Burgenlander, who spends a lot of time in the fishing pond of Oberdorf-Rotenturm and has an “enormous stamina”, pulled two catfish with a length of 2.37 and 2.08 m ashore with great difficulty. Estimated weight: 80 or 60 kilograms.
25 years old
After a photo session and some technical talk with fellow fishermen, the two beautiful boys were released back into the pond. Both are probably around 25 years old. No one there had ever succeeded in pulling a bigger fish out of the water.
Sensational success
Pond owner Martha Dirnbeck said enthusiastically: “For me, Mr. Horvath’s success is sensational. Two such big catfish in such a short time! Some anglers sit by the pond for many nights and wait in vain.” Interesting for hobby anglers: in addition to the catfish, which Horvath mainly focuses on, there is also a large population of carp in this water.
