A German student pilot (20) died in a small plane crash in northern Spain. According to the police, she had left with her instructor for a training flight in the city of Burgos. The man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The serious accident occurred on Wednesday. When radio contact with the plane was suddenly lost, a helicopter flew along the route and discovered the wreckage about 85 kilometers west of Burgos, police said. Paramedics on the scene could only determine that the young woman was dead.
The cause of the accident was initially unclear. The flight recorder and the wreckage were recovered on Thursday. It could take days and weeks before the results of the investigation are available, a police officer said. The newspaper “Diario de Burgos” reported that the small plane suddenly lost altitude and crashed in a field.
