A former Villach crowd favorite on the KAC bench? This will become reality next Sunday during the guest performance in the Pustertal. As head coach Furey flew to Canada, Markus Peintner pitched in and “Co” Fischer assisted. “I became calmer on the bench,” grins the former striker. VSV is chasing the first points of the current season at home against Innsbruck.
A bizarre sight! When you think of Markus Peintner in Carinthia, you think of the former eccentric ice hockey star from Villach who was not exactly popular with KAC fans. This Sunday, however, the now 43-year-old will be on the bench for the Redcoats during their guest appearance in the Pustertal. Replacing trainer Kirk Furey (who flew to Canada yesterday due to a death), he assists “Co” David Fischer. “That would have been unthinkable ten years ago,” grins Peintner, who even won the championship with the Eagles in 2006. “With my energetic character I was not only a thorn in the side of the Klagenfurt fans.”
