Graz researcher changes cells & co

Date:

Anyone who thinks science is rigid and boring and far too complicated to understand has never spoken to the Graz biochemist and science communicator Ariane Pessensteiner. The researcher transfers knowledge through self-designed comics and in many creative workshops including experiments.

A purple nanodisk, talkative membrane proteins and colorful phospholipid dancers: When the Graz biochemist and science communicator Ariane Pessentheiner explains science, it does not sound boring or cumbersome, but rather like an exciting adventure. “Science may be complex,” she says, “but beyond that it depends heavily on communicating scientific topics. It doesn’t matter who, it affects us all and everyone can find something fascinating in it,” says Pessentheiner: “It is important that there are people who can bring you closer to the scientific content in such a way that the spark flies !” , Pessensteiner resorts to quite unusual methods.
