Outgoing United States President Joe Biden on Monday granted several preemptive pardons to a series of senior officials in his administration whom Donald Trump had threatened to prosecute upon his return to the White House.
Among the winners is Mark Milleyformer United States Chief of Staff responsible for the 2021 troop withdrawal from Afghanistan; who served as White House medical adviser during the coronavirus pandemic, Anthony Fauciand the members of the congressional committee that investigated the attack on the Capitol.
This was announced by Biden in a statement in which he confirmed that these pardons are using his authority under the US Constitution, although he stressed that “they should not be confused with an admission” that they committed a crime.
