A truck driver (26) responded on Thursday on the Inntal Autobahn towards Kufstein with presence of mind: When he noticed that a fire had broken out on his trailer, he drove to an empty parking lot.
A truck fire was reported on the football field there in Jenbach on Thursday around 4:33 p.m. The police officers who arrived on the scene discovered an uncoupled semi-trailer (tipper semi-trailer) that was already completely on fire. The driver parked the tractor in a safe place.
It was determined that the semi-trailer contained hazardous substances (waste) and that it started burning for unknown reasons on the A12 near Stans, towards Kufstein.
The driver, a 26-year-old Austrian, noticed this early on and drove away from the Jenbach motorway exit, parked the burning semi-trailer in the empty parking lot of the football field in Jenbach and alerted the emergency services.
The FFW Jenbach was able to quickly control and extinguish the vehicle fire; no one was injured. Four police patrols, five FFW vehicles with a total of 25 people from FFW Jenbach and an ambulance were in action.
