The Swedish Authority for Accident Investigation has not found clear evidence of sabotage on two Baltic Sea Denderlin cables via a Chinese ship. It could not be certain that the cargo ship “Yi Peng 3” had deliberately dragged his anchor over the seabed to damage the two fiber optic cables in Swedish waters, the authority said on Tuesday.
The public prosecutor, however, said Reuters that it continued in the case individually. She didn’t want to give any details.
The incidents took place on November 17 and 18. An affected cable connects Finland and Germany, the other Sweden and Lithuania. The investigations were made more difficult because the Chinese authorities insist on their jurisdiction for the ship and forbidden criminal investigations and taking out surveys on board.
Russia As an ally, China has disputed every participation in the incidents. In the Baltic Sea in February 2022, a number of failures for power cables, telecommunication connections and gas pipelines took place in the Baltic Sea. NATO has therefore strengthened its supervision in the region.
