The decrease is attributed to the delay of the Holy Week compared to 2024; Only Bilbao escapes the negative trend.
The figures of hotel tourism in Euskadi are closed with a setback. According to Eustat data, tickets have fallen by 6.4 % and overnight stays in 2024. The main reason is on the calendar: this year the Holy Week was held in April, while in 2024 it was in March.
A total of 281,462 submissions in hotels and 539,566 were registered at night. The average stay remains stable after 1.92 days. Originally, the State Tourism majority (173,236 submissions remain compared to 108,226 abroad), although it has also fallen more: 6.8 % compared to 5.8 %.
Bizkaia has been the exception in a lazy month. Although Álava and Gipuzkoa fall from 11.2 % and 12.9 % respectively, Bizkaia has achieved an increase of 2 %. Bilbao in particular stands out with an increase of 9.5 % in tickets and 7 % in overnight stays.
On the contrary, the most pronounced descents have taken place in Donostia (-15.4 % in submissions and -13.6 % in the night) and in Vitoria -Gasteiz (-9.5 % and -3.4 % respectively). Despite the decrease in the number of travelers, the average stay in all areas has remained almost the same.
The occupancy rate has also been withdrawn: 48.6 % per square and 60.2 % per rooms, which are good for between 3 and 4 percentage points. In addition, both the daily average rate (ADR) and the income per available Chamber (Revpar) have fallen by 3.9 % and 9.7 % respectively, making the lowest profitability of the month clear.
