The Pielachtal mourns the loss of a 45-year-old hobby athlete that collapsed into a donation “Wings for Life” in the forest. The man died a little later in the hospital.
The enthusiastic runner and passionate musician Martin St. started in his hometown of Obergrafendorf in the St. Pölten district. His only goal: to collect donations per kilometer run as part of the worldwide “Wings for Life” initiative. Last Sunday, more than 310,000 runners were launched worldwide to support research into the spinal cord in the current step.
“My friend Martin also put on his shoes to support the initiative that was once launched by motocross legend Heinz Kigadner. But he never came to the goal,” says local chief Michael Strasser van Weinburg. At one point and somewhere in the talent of the forest, two hikers came across the lifeless body of the idealist. The rescue chain was started immediately.
