Endesa triumphs in Andorra’s fair transition match

Date:

The company will invest 1,200 million euros and create 300 permanent jobs

Endesa, through its renewable subsidiary Enel Green Power, has been chosen the company to manage 953 megawatts (MW), with the potential to expand to 1,200 MW, of the Andorra fair transition competition.

The project stands out for its innovative nature as it proposes the hybridization of renewable solar and wind projects, energy storage and the development of green hydrogen projects to truly decarbonise the industries in the area.

According to company estimates, this industrial development will lead to the creation of 3,500 jobs during construction, and 300 permanent jobs directly to operate the facilities.

“We are very pleased to have received this preliminary award,” said Generation General Manager at Endesa and Enel Green Power Spain subsidiary, Rafael González, reaffirming the company’s commitment to “where coal used to be, a series of installations which will hybridize different technologies, such as wind, solar, storage and green hydrogen«.

To implement this project, Endesa plans to invest more than 1,200 million euros. An investment that will go towards the construction of five solar and five wind power plants in a hybridization regime supported by a battery storage system, which will allow to take full advantage of renewable production.

In addition, there will be an electrolyser with which the surpluses for the production of green hydrogen can be managed. “In that sense, Endesa works with local companies in industries that produce components of the hydrogen renewable value chain,” the company said in a statement.

In the same way, the company includes in its plan a training proposal for the professional recycling of people from the environment to sectors such as renewable energy sources, in addition to various initiatives and projects in the primary and tertiary sectors. To this end, through a participatory process, Endesa has held meetings with numerous associations and local agents to chart a common path for growth and environmental empowerment.
