Bomb on Crimean Bridge – Russia brings Tyrolean companies into play

Date:

Russian propaganda about the war of aggression against Ukraine is getting more bizarre. Russia’s secret service has now released documents and images allegedly coming from the truck that allegedly carried the explosive that partially collapsed the prestigious Kerch Bridge in Crimea. Including a freight document from a Tyrolean company – which responded quickly.

With the publication of the photos, Russia is apparently trying to shift public opinion in its favor about the incident at the strategically important bridge. The Russian propaganda machine also distributed a shipping document from the Tyrolean furniture and interior design company Egger Group through international agencies and the Russian television channel RBC and several Telegram channels.

Russia has traced the supposed route
This was to prove that the bomb on the bridge was transported by a vehicle of the Austrian company. The Russian secret service says it found out that the explosive was smuggled through Bulgaria, Georgia and Armenia and was eventually detonated on the Kerch Bridge.

X-rays of the alleged truck also made the rounds in Russia, which turned out to be fake shortly after they were published. According to the Russian view, the Ukrainian secret service is responsible for this.

Company does not deliver to Crimea
The Egger Group has since made it clear to the Italian news channel Rai Südtirol that the leaked ship documents have nothing to do with the explosion. “We do not deliver goods to Crimea,” Eggers spokeswoman Manuela Leitner “strictly” rejects a connection.

“The cargo is still on its way”
As proof of this, Egger also provided the broadcaster with a selfie of the driver with the relevant document. In fact, the trip involved transporting plastic edging from the company’s factory in Turkey (Gebce) to the Egger plant in Russia (Shuya). The delivery is exempt from the sanctions, the company pays strict attention to the sanction guidelines, Leitner told Rai Südtirol. “The cargo and truck listed in the document are still on the planned route,” it said.

The company also has no explanation or suspicion as to why this shipping document is now circulating. However, the spokeswoman emphasized that they are already in contact with the responsible authorities and are doing everything possible to clarify the false report.
