Now it’s fixed – Amazon is building a distribution center south of Graz

Date:

Amazon’s distribution center, which was controversial in Graz and eventually cancelled, is now being built in Premstätten, south of Graz. The construction site will open next Wednesday at the Kalsdorf exit of the Pyhrnautobahn (A9).

The online retailer had originally planned its distribution center and parking garage in the southern district of Liebenau in Graz and had already submitted the relevant applications to the city of Graz. Soon there was resistance from local residents. It was feared that massive traffic would come from the many parcel trucks. Since there would be no environmental impact assessment for this, even the city of Graz has filed a complaint against the assessment notice in question. Ultimately, Amazon withdrew all requests and looked around for a new location. It is now found in Premstätten.

Distribution center with 671 parking spaces
It has long been rumored that it will be built on land near the Samsung and Magirus Lohr battery factory. Now everything seems to be settled. The distribution centre, including a parking garage with 671 parking spaces, is being developed by the VGP Group, a provider of logistics and commercial real estate active throughout Europe. The VGP, as the developer of the location, wants to present details together with the mayor and Amazon Logistics next week. Delivery is in any case planned for November 2023, according to the invitation to the opening of the construction site on Tuesday.
