The construction cartel, which was arrested five years ago, continues to spread. And this time the path leads back to Upper Austria. The Federal Competition Authority has now filed for an “appropriate” fine against five companies of the Gebrüder Haider group of companies in Großraming (Upper Austria).
It concerns illegal collusion over prices and tenders – that is the abbreviated form of the indictment against all those involved in the construction cartel, which was arrested in 2017 and which is under investigation. More than 2,000 construction projects are said to be affected by the cartel. According to the Federal Competition Authority, the order volume was between 3500 euros and 61 million euros.
Four large companies had already been fined
The Großraming-based Gebrüder Haider group, which has now received an “appropriate” fine from authorities, is the fifth company to be fined in the course of the antitrust investigation. Fines had already been imposed on HABAU (€26.33 million), the Strabag Group (€45.37 million), Porr (€62.35 million) and Swietelsky (€27.15 million).
The next two companies already in sight
The researchers have already caught the following fish: Two other companies recently received mail from the Federal Competition Authority – with so-called objections. You now have the opportunity to take a stand.
