Shock in Hornstein – fittings manufacturer Kludi cuts half of the jobs

Date:

The hardware manufacturer Kludi announced on Thursday that it would restructure its Hornstein facility in the Eisenstadt district, with more than half of its workforce to be cut. 80 of the 140 positions in the factory are affected.

Social plans are being drawn up, the company says in a broadcast. The savings are justified by raw material and energy prices and reduced demand. The branch in Hornstein will specialize in kitchen fittings.

Center planned for kitchen faucets
The plan is to set up a “Specifications Hub” with a show kitchen that will bring hotel operators, planners and architects to Hornstein, explains director Julian Henco. Automation and digitization should be promoted.

Consequences of the war in Ukraine
The restructuring, which also affects the sites in Germany and Hungary, is necessary because of the “difficult economic and political circumstances” surrounding the war in Ukraine. Demand has also shifted from the kitchen and bathroom to heating.

The savings are intended to ensure the continued existence of the three production sites, Henco said. Discussions with the works councils have already started.
