Energie AG Oberösterreich raises gas and electricity prices significantly. On January 1, 2023, the price guarantee for existing customers – which has been valid for electricity since 2017 and for gas since 2018 – will expire.
On January 2, there will be an energy work price of 32 cents for electricity and 14.35 cents for gas, each gross per kilowatt-hour (kWh). Gas customers are particularly hard hit: households with an annual consumption of 15,000 kWh must take into account additional costs of EUR 126.75 gross per month.
Almost 25 euros more per month
A household with an average electricity consumption of 3,500 kWh can count on additional costs of EUR 24.53 gross per month after deduction of the electricity price brake. The brake on the electricity price comes into effect up to a consumption of 2,900 kWh, according to EAG, 60 percent of households supplied by it are lower. The company calculated that more than three-quarters would consume less than 4,900 kWh and would therefore have an additional charge below the gross limit of 50 euros.
