Since the last round of negotiations on the collective labor agreement – which applies to all federal states with the exception of Upper Austria – the positions have been on the table. The union members demand a gross wage increase of 500 euros per month or 2,000 euros minimum wage. The hospitals offer a socially responsible one-off payment of a maximum of 1,000 euros net and an advance of the next collective labor agreement period by two months. The union does not consider this offer to be taken seriously. Healthcare workers and doctors would have practically no use for this, for example a nurse in her tenth year of service would receive only 53 euros as a one-off payment.
Only Viennese homes affected
The warning strike is therefore inevitable, according to vida. It takes place on Wednesdays at the Vienna Order Hospitals Speising, Brothers of Mercy, Sisters of Mercy, St. Joseph, Sacred Heart of Jesus and Divine Saviour, from 8:15 a.m. to 11 a.m. There is no danger to the patients, but there will be delays and postponements of operations that can be postponed, the union said.
