Now the church is also responding to rising inflation. The aim is to increase the ecclesiastical contribution of the Roman Catholic Church in Austria in the coming year.
This year the dioceses had waived the usual automatic adjustment of the contribution. It is about one percent of taxable income, the Kathpress quoted Vienna diocesan spokesman Michael Prüller on Monday.
The minimum contribution will not be increased
In the Archdiocese of Vienna, for example, the calculation bases are only adjusted for not even half of the rate of inflation or the salary increase. The minimum contribution of 32 euros will also not be increased. They want to meet people’s economic needs, it said.
