Inflation correction – Disputes over brokerage fees and rent are heating up

Date:

Many old pawn rents will go up again in April. With an estimated 8.6 percent – the reason is the automatic inflation correction. Some therefore demand that rents are only increased by the policy rate or construction costs. But that would be a shame, says Jan Kluge of Agenda Austria.

“At the moment it would be cheaper, but if you count the time from 2015, construction prices have always risen faster than inflation. All in all, the residents would have had to pay 2 to 3 months more rent.’ .

Better regulation and high penalties demanded
The planned ordering principle for leases continues to cause controversy. The tenants’ association advocates better regulation and high fines if estate agents break the law. The brokers believe that everything is arranged in a tenant-friendly manner.
