The planned change in leadership at Twitter is long overdue. He thinks the end of 2023 is a good time, Elon Musk, head of the short message service, said in a speech at the World Government Summit on Wednesday. “I think I need to stabilize the company and make sure it’s financially healthy and the product roadmap is clearly defined.” So far, there are no candidates for the executive chairman.
In a vote of Twitter users in late 2022, the majority of participants voted for Musk to abandon the post. The billionaire is also the head of the electric car company Tesla. “I will step down as CEO as soon as I find someone dumb enough to do the job,” he tweeted afterwards. “After that, I will just lead the software and server teams.”
Since acquiring Twitter in October 2022, Musk has transformed the short message service. He laid off most of the workforce and changed the company’s strategy. In doing so, he alienated many with sometimes capricious decisions. Advertisers then distanced themselves and politicians warned the company to comply with legal requirements.
