Ryanair Signs First Pilot Agreement With 3% Salary Increases

Date:

Low-cost airline agrees to freeze salaries this year and increase from next year until 2027

Ryanair has signed its first collective agreement for the company’s pilots working in Spain. In the agreement made public this Monday, they conclude that salaries will be frozen this year, but will rise between 2.8% and 3% from 2024 to 2027, the last year the agreement is valid.

As explained by the company, the agreement has been signed with the Sepla pilot union and will benefit a total of 900 pilots in Spain.

The agreement includes a training allowance for the next four years, specifying days off and off-base work, as well as a “roster” that sees pilots work five days and four days off, the airline said.

The signing of the agreement took place at the pilots’ union headquarters in Madrid and was attended by the company’s CEO, Eddie Wilson, who was accompanied by Human Resources Director Darrel Hughes and COO Neal McMahon. The president, Óscar Sanguino, and the chief delegate of the Ryanair Union Section, Fran Gómez, participated on behalf of Sepla.

In his speech, Wilson emphasized that “this agreement strengthens Ryanair’s commitment to the economy in Spain and to its pilots in Spain by investing in growth opportunities for the sector for years to come.” In addition, he stressed that it will mean “better salaries and conditions” for the pilots.

Sanguino called this signing “an historic agreement” and stressed that “this agreement will give pilots safety, security and confidence in their current and future relationship with Ryanair”. “We are not celebrating the end of the process, we are at the beginning of an agreement between the union and the airline,” he added.
