On Thursday, the Greens presented their new spring campaign “Our mission: climate happiness” with the slogan “Where there is a will, there is a wind turbine”. The aim is to advance the energy transition. “For many, the world feels like it is on fire. That is why we want to shape the future with passion. This takes courage and will. We want to put the brakes on the brakes and encourage those who are willing,” emphasized Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler.
The Greens’ new campaign consists of more than 1600 posters throughout Austria, a radio commercial and various social media activities.
“Get Out of Addiction to a War Criminal”
Kogler outlines the path of the green energy transition: “Get out of the depend of a war crime, out of the fossil age and into the solar age.” The energy transition is the key to greater independence, security and sustainability. That is why the main aim is to promote the expansion of wind turbines.
“Because the future will come anyway, but it is up to us to shape it in such a way that it is worth living in for everyone. Especially in times of crisis, we have no time to lose, but opportunities to gain. We Greens are convinced that the energy transition, the economic transition and also social security will contribute to a liveable future,” says Kogler.
According to Energy Minister Leonore Gewessler, the energy transition in Austria has already gained momentum. “A lot has already been achieved in some communities, they need our tailwind. We want to give the next generation a fulfilling life.”
Gewessler: “Overcoming old thinking”
The biggest hurdle on the road to “climate happiness” in Austria is overcoming the old way of thinking. “Old ways of thinking still prevent some from realizing how much we can gain if we stop measuring political success in terms of square meters of asphalt. One thing is clear today: we can no longer afford this old way of thinking about climate protection,” says Gewessler.
And he added: “We will achieve our ‘climate happiness’ if we make it our common mission. If we like to improve. Yes, that also takes effort. But before you can be happy to be on top of the mountain, you have to master the strenuous climb. In the end, what matters is that the work is worth it. And that is exactly what climate happiness means.”
