The winners of the vote – an apprentice seeks an apprentice: Steinecker’s top 10 company

Date:

Together with the Chamber of Commerce and kronehit, the “Krone” has stimulated the talent turbo with the campaign “Student seeks apprentice” and had hundreds of students present their company via video. After the online vote at krone.at, it’s now time for the final: our reporter Sarah Jahn was on site with the ten companies that our readers voted in the top 10. Today she is at Steinecker Mode, where Michelle presents her company and internship.

Michelle is 18 years old and is in her third year of training at Steinecker Mode to become a shop assistant with a focus on textiles. With krone.tv reporter Sarah Jahn, she gives us exciting insights into her apprenticeship and her work – and explains what an apprenticeship at Steinecker Mode has to offer.

The right lesson for those interested in fashion
During a tour of the large bridal fashion department, Michelle explains what made her decide to do an internship. The 19-year-old had a taste of the company as early as high school and immediately knew: “That’s what I want to do”. Anyone who takes an apprenticeship at Steinecker Mode must certainly have an interest in fashion, she emphasizes. “If you’re working on it all day, you have to be interested in it.”

What does a typical day at Michelle look like? “The first thing you do in the morning is turn on the light, then you check what’s on the schedule throughout the day: shipping dates, new dates, pick-up dates. During the day, the cabins (to fit; note) are of course always ready so that everything is nice and clean,” the 18-year-old describes the work process. “And of course the clothes are also prepared for the next day,” she adds during our tour of the fashion house.

Michelle confidently explains to reporter Sarah Jahn all the steps a bride-to-be must go through to find the perfect wedding dress. Steinecker Mode not only equips women with clothing for the most beautiful day of their lives, but also men can choose from a wide selection of fashion for the groom, as well as casual casual wear and traditional costumes.

Connect with new people
Besides the fashion itself, the fascinating thing about her internship for Michelle is the contact with new people. As a shop assistant you definitely have to be very social, says the 18-year-old. Students at Steinecker Mode work in both the women’s and men’s fashion department during their internship, “and if we want, also in the bridal fashion department (note) – and I’m in the bridal fashion department now,” smiles Michelle, the When we come to visit, it’s easy to see that she really enjoys her apprenticeship at Steinecker Mode.

What are the opportunities for further development in the company? Julia Plank, representative for students at Steinecker Mode, mentions a multitude of possibilities during our visit. Starting with the sale and presentation of the goods to their area of responsibility i.e. taking care of the pupils. Incidentally, there are also apprentices in the own tailor’s shop, who can be trained there as clothing designers, Julia Plank adds when asked.

What we could clearly see during our visit to Steinecker Mode: the company puts a lot of effort into training students. The trainees are offered a pleasant working environment and, above all, an insight into many different areas of the retail industry and especially the textile industry. Further training seminars are also part of the program every year, which should benefit not only the company, but also the students themselves as much as possible. During excursions, for example to the climbing park in Vienna, the students can really train.

As an advantage, Michelle also mentions the “small rewards” for good performance at the vocational school – and especially the active support of the student representative in the numerous student competitions.
