The company’s CEO is refusing to show that figure for the time being
Doubts persist and the intersection of statements between Elon Musk and the CEO of Twitter due to the number of fake accounts that reign on the social network. By testing that the number of fictional characters is less than 5%, the last condition set by the founder and CEO of Tesla and SpaceX was so that the $44,000 million purchase offer (41,992 million euros) goes through.
And for now, there are no signs that it will be able to move forward. It was on Friday that Musk decided to “temporarily” suspend the agreement pending details that support the calculation that spam accounts for less than 5% of users. Some calculations that the social network itself recognizes may not adapt to reality. And now the American billionaire has assured on his Twitter account that the CEO has refused to show evidence that fake accounts make up less than 5% of the total number of accounts.
“Spam may be higher than estimated,” Twitter assured in a report, something that derailed Musk’s operation and that some analytics firms, like Musk himself has repeated, are supporting by ensuring the number of fake accounts can be as high as 20%. In addition, before a message from another user assured us that the number of fake accounts could exceed 50%, Musk replied “exactly”.
“Twitter should appreciate some sort of outside validation if their claims are true,” Musk arranged in another post on the social network.
It was in the month of April when Musk launched the offer to take control of Twitter, naming the elimination of “bots” and the verification of all users as his management’s priorities. He first bought 9% of the company to get on the board of directors. A few weeks later, in a move that was gaining momentum, Musk launched the offering that it’s not clear now will end.
