The Parndorf branch wanted to stay open longer on Saturdays, but that caused anger among employees. The corresponding regulation is now repealed.
Shopping until the evening: this is now possible in the Parndorf outlet center from Monday to Friday until 8 or 9 p.m. On Saturdays it ends at 6pm. This should have changed through a state regulation. This would have allowed opening hours until 8 p.m. on Saturdays in November and December.
Loud scream
The scheme was published last Friday. This did not cause shouts of joy from the employees and store managers, on the contrary. The union – but also the country – received numerous calls and emails from those affected voicing their anger. The union joined their protest and even reserved the right to take legal action.
Cancellation before start
The country reacted immediately and withdrew the regulation on Tuesday. According to the Burgenland state government office, a one-off pilot project was planned in cooperation with the management of the outlet center to evaluate possible changes in the outflow of purchasing power. However, based on emails from affected employees and store operators, it became clear that this project required internal information and communication measures, which apparently were not sufficiently implemented. There will be no new edition of the project.
