There was speculation for days, now it is official: AMAG boss Gerald Mayer is moving to Voestalpine. De Mühlviertler will become the new CFO at the steel giant. Start of service: April 2024.
That happened quickly: on August 29, it was announced that Robert Ottel would leave Voestalpine’s CFO at the end of March 2024. Less than two and a half months later, the successor for the veteran has been found in the executive suite of the Linz-based steel company: Gerald Mayer succeeds Ottel!
Mayer currently still heads AMAG’s operations and has been a member of the aluminum manufacturer’s board of directors since 2007. On October 25, the Mühlviertler informed the supervisory board that he wanted to change careers and leave Ranshofen at the end of the year.
Ottel’s future is still open
Since then, the rumor mill has been buzzing, with him being seen as Ottel’s logical successor. It has been official since Friday. He will start the new job in April. At Ottel it is still unclear where the professional journey will lead.
