Nothing works anymore, that’s what they say in Linz these days! Because the Voest factory entrances were blocked by strikers, traffic in Linz has come to a virtual standstill. Delays of up to 50 minutes are reported.
Metal workers in Austria are currently on warning strikes for higher wages and this also affected traffic in Linz on Wednesday morning. The factory entrances of steel giant Voest were closed in the morning hours.
Traffic jams quickly developed. Around 7 a.m. there was nothing going on around the Industriezeile. Traffic came to a standstill, especially on the city highway, the A7. Readers of “Krone” report delays of up to 50 minutes.
Traffic is blocked up to the A1
At 7:30 am the traffic jam on the Mühlkreisautobahn (A7) stretched from Freistadt to Treffling on the Westautobahn, with an hour’s loss. In the other direction on the Westautobahn (A1), the backlog continued until the Franzenhausweg exit.
The public bus cannot run
The Ebelsberg bypass and Donau Straße (B3) to Luftenberg were also affected by traffic jams, the ÖAMTC reported on Wednesday. It started rising again at 6am and the trend was still up at 7:30am. “It is currently very slow to travel by car in Linz,” the traffic club said. Line 18 could not run in Linz city traffic.
