After only a slightly positive annual result in 2022, Austrian Airlines (AUA) clearly returned to profitability last year. The number of passengers in 2023 was only just below the pre-Corona level
The airline’s adjusted operating profit (Adjusted EBIT) amounted to 127 million euros in 2023, after three million euros the year before, the subsidiary of German Lufthansa announced on Thursday. Annual turnover increased from 1.87 to 2.34 billion euros.
In 2023, the AUA mainly benefited from stable flight operations and continued high travel appetite. Passenger numbers rose 24 percent last year to 13.9 million, only just below 2019’s pre-pandemic level of 14.7 million passengers.
