Fight for more wages – collective bargaining negotiations stall, suppliers go on strike

Date:

Bicycle couriers and food deliverers want to protest again in several states on Wednesday against the stalled KV negotiations. Where you have to pick up your lunch on Wednesday or prepare it yourself.

As the Vida union announced on Monday, the strike will take place on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Vienna, Graz, Innsbruck and Klagenfurt will be affected. There were already strikes in March.

Collective bargaining negotiations have been going on for months and the union accuses employers of refusing to compensate the approximately 2,000 employees for inflation. The employers’ offer is 5.8 percent, the employee representatives demand 8.7 percent.

Monthly wages close to the poverty line
Toni Pravdic, KV negotiator for the Vida union, criticized Monday that it is incomprehensible that workers who circle halfway around the world with an average of 15,000 kilometers cycled per year in all weather conditions do not even receive the full cost of living. At 1,730 euros gross for a 40-hour working week, the monthly wage is just below the current poverty line.
