Eating out, expensive prices and ski areas without snow. Tourism, the hotel industry and the catering industry are not having an easy time. Gerold Royda, the new president of the tourism division, and Michael Nell, the president of the hotel sector, speak in an interview with the “Krone” about difficult times and opportunities.
“Kron”: Tourism, catering – three sectors that have been experiencing challenging times for years and cannot do without each other. Mr Royda and Mr Nell, in what direction are the sectors mentioned developing in these difficult times that have been going on for years?
Gerold Royda: Our goal is clearly to move towards quality tourism in order to survive in the international market in the long term. This also includes the gastronomic infrastructure. What good is the nicest hotel if there is no restaurant in town?
