voestalpine has already invested more than 270 million euros in setting up green steel production in Linz and Donawitz, and a blast furnace in Upper Austria is currently being repaired for 30 million euros. And now the steel company is also spending huge amounts in the USA. A factory is currently being expanded.
In Jefferson, Indiana, voestalpine is investing 70 million euros and creating 110 new jobs, the steel and technology group from Linz (Upper Austria) announced on Monday.
Production at the plant will grow by 15,000 square meters, doubling capacity to 80,000 tons – all because voestalpine has secured large orders for renowned truck manufacturers. High-quality side members for trucks in classes 6, 7 and 8 will then be manufactured there.
“With this investment, we are expanding our global production network and can therefore produce to the highest quality in direct proximity to our customers,” says Carola Richter, member of the voestalpine Executive Board and head of the Metal Forming division, which is responsible for highly developed profiles, tubes, etc. – and precision strip steel products.
