Hardly a day goes by without the bankruptcy of a major domestic company being announced. Now the chocolate company Hauswirth from Burgenland has been affected, whose products could be found on the shelves of discount supermarkets, among others.
The chocolate and confectionery company Franz Hauswirth Ges.mbH, based in Kittsee (Neusiedl am See district), is bankrupt, the creditor protection associations Creditreform and KSV1870 announced on Tuesday. According to KSV1870, the debts amount to approximately 10.5 million euros. The company currently employs 119 employees. According to the company’s own filing, the intention is to continue the business.
Commodity prices are causing problems for companies
Hauswirth produces and sells chocolate products and sweets. Increased costs for purchasing raw materials, energy and labor costs and a decline in turnover due to the corona pandemic have now led to bankruptcy, it was said.
The continuation of the company must be financed through existing bank balances and the collection of outstanding receivables. Creditors can register their claims until February 3, 2025. The first reporting and audit meeting is scheduled for February 17.
