As an attractive and crisis-resistant employer, the Austrian Post entered into the battle for employees immediately after the new bankruptcy of kikaLeiner became known. Now kitchen manufacturer DAN also wants to take advantage of the difficult hour: the Austrian market leader is hiring additional staff and also helping the furniture retailer’s customers.
DANKüchen has been part of the Swedish Ballingslöv Group since 2023, and Ewald Marschallinger has been managing director of the Austrian market leader based in Upper Austria since the spring – and both seem to be something of a tailwind for the company, even if the sharp collapse of the demand on the new construction market is leaving its mark.
DAN as an emerging company
DAN is now not only number one in Austria, it is said, it is also market leader in Slovenia and Croatia, and growing in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Serbia, Italy and Germany. And it is precisely this fact that ensures that additional staff are now being hired and that employees are ‘applying’ to kikaLeiner employees. DAN is looking for new employees in many areas – from planning and installation to customer service and finance.
Speaking of customer service, although occupancy rates are good until the first quarter of 2025, they want to help customers affected by kikaLeiner’s bankruptcy. “To limit the damage suffered, special discounts and additional discounts are applied and short delivery times are made possible through special shifts,” says Marschallinger, who reveals: “We have already been able to resolve some issues positively.”
Delivery before Christmas
kikaLeiner customers who have purchased a kitchen from the dealer contact the head of internal sales, Manfred Huber, with the purchase contract or confirmation of a deposit. “Our production team is doing everything it can to deliver orders in late November before Christmas,” says Marschallinger.
