On the phone, fraudsters were a Microsoft employee and therefore had access to computer networks; Fake websites take bank details – the risk of falling victim of criminals is great. You can also fall into the trap if you are looking for a job, if a company from Upper Austria warns its applicants urgently.
From the project manager in software development to production controllers to the service repair technician: 41 jobs are currently being advertised online at B&R in Egelsberg. Interesting: on the website of the automation specialist who belongs to the ABB group, potential applicants are not only informed about what the task profile looks like and what qualifications are necessary, but also refer to the fraud alert that must be read before the application.
Payment requests were fake
Background: Some people received ABB contract deals through e -mail, but they were not written by the company. Applicants were asked to pay an appointment for an interview or to guarantee an employment contract. One was also asked to pay costs for processing applications. The fraudsters built the company logo in the e -mails and also referred to the personal data of the recipients in the E -mails because they in turn published them on social networks.
The goal: sensitive
The company emphasizes that banking information is only requested when an employment contract from both parties is signed. We never ask applicants to pay, you let you know. Why do you point to so fraud attempts in such a way? The offensive is a pure precautionary measure to make interested applicants aware of the subject of fraudulent phishing -e -mails, answers when requested.
High stocks force austerity measures
The economic challenges do not stop at B&R. In the summer of 2024, the automation specialist, based in Egelsberg, put together a package for customers because of the increased warehouse to lower the costs. In the course of this, the savings were also withdrawn from the staff: jobs in Austria, especially in the administrative area, disappeared. B&R spoke about a maximum of 240 jobs.
The reduction must mainly be achieved with the help of natural fluctuation, voluntary pension, voluntary departure and retraining. A social plan and a Labor Foundation for professional assignments and further education were also agreed.
