The time pressure is increasing – the gas storage facility of Austria only filled 55%

Date:

After the stop of the Ukraine throughput, Austria has so far covered its gas consumption, especially from the gas shops. According to the e-check, the memory is currently less than 55 percent.

According to figures, 45 percent of natural gas consumption came from the saving, 24 percent covered liquid gas that was brought to Europe by ship, and another 16 percent flowed from Norway to Austria via Germany. The rest came from the Caspian region, North Africa and Groot -Britain.

In the two winter months of January and February, the gas memory fell by more than 20 percentage points to less than 55 percent.

Russian gas has no longer flowed through Ukraine since this year
At the start of the year, the transit contract between Russia and Ukraine has expired, since then there is no Russian pipeline gas to Austria, which in combination with cold weather and higher prices contributed to the fact that the memory suffered faster.

The empty the memory, the greater the time pressure
Experts from e-control and energy agency repeatedly emphasized that the gas supply of Austria without gas from Russia was protected and that the current capacities were sufficient for two very cold winter. However, the time pressure to refill the memory in the summer increases how further the memory stables decrease until the end of the heating season.

90 percent goal until November
The board of Austrian gas schedule management, Bernhard Painz, said it would be good in mid -December “if the memory is no less than 60 percent after the winter”. Due to the war in Ukraine, the EU had issued a law that the reservoirs should be 90 percent before 1 November.
