Branch development, bankruptcies – the symptoms of the trade suffering from the weakening consumer mood, which is really under pressure from all sides because of the competition through online shopping. It is therefore hard to believe that Intersport Austria recently presented top figures for the first half of 2024/25, which ended on Monday.
In the first six months of the financial year, sales to 405 million euros climbed, which in turn meant an increase of 4.7 percent compared to the same period 2023/24. “The season was characterized by quite great weather that the winter sports enthusiast approved,” says director Franz Koll.
How does the sporting goods operate from Wels to handle the crisis on the market? “The sports trade is under pressure, will remain under pressure because economic development is not optimal,” says Koll, “but we travel in opposite ways, we will be fully affected to develop the thing.” Top reach, top consultation and service-this are the three factors, is based on Intersport.
The 280 locations in Austria run differently, Koll confirms.
