The head of the Irish cheap fashion chain Primark resigns after a woman accused him of misconduct. After an investigation, Paul Marchant resigned with immediate effect.
It was about Marchant’s behavior towards the person “in a social environment”. CFO Ein Tong should now temporarily lead as an interim chef Primark.
Marchant had collaborated with the investigation, granted his “wrong estimate” and accepted that his behavior did not match the expected standards. He apologized to the person, the supervisory council and his colleagues in Primark.
“I am deeply disappointed”
George Weston, Chief Executive von ABF, said, “I am deeply disappointed.” Initially there was no explanation from Marchant himself.
