Alpine Club and Nature Lovers are optimistic about the new walking season, only one location is currently not a tenant. But the staff is still desperately looking for. Many would underestimate the work in the idyllic mountains.
“Our huts are all forgiven. Everyone can start from our point of view. Even if we have had a strikingly large number of tenants,” says Manfred Spitzbart of the Nature -Reunned Salzkammergut. And Thomas Poltura, chairman of the Alpine Association of Upper Austria, is optimistic about this season: “We are seeing the trend to walk and look forward to the summer. Last year visiting the mountains has improved again. In the Anton-Schosser-Hütte in the Ennstal we are still looking for a tenant. Experience shows something for half the year.”
Special requirements for staff
However, the two mountain food is a large subject: even if almost all huts in the country are managed, people are desperately looking for staff everywhere. “It’s difficult, but you fight. The requirements are completely different than in the normal gastro,” says Spitzbart.
Many applicants would underestimate work. Because in addition to the normal host activities you must also be familiar with the technology.
Times also change on the mountain
“You can’t take many applications seriously. If the weather is nice, the hut will be stormed. If it is bad, no one will come. You still spend most of the season in the hut,” Poltura said. This causes further development: “You can increasingly see that the guests take frustration in the mountains. In the past it always said, everything is always good on the mountain and everyone is no longer everywhere.”
