Everything is becoming more expensive – Austrians are more dissatisfied, have to save more

42 percent of the Austrians believe that they are financially worse than five years ago. Especially women (45 percent) and older (48 percent) see it that way. You must also save more than the general public, show a current IMAS report.

40 percent of respondents are forced to do more than five years ago, 45 percent for women, 42 percent for more than 60 -year -olds. The tenor is clear: everything has become more expensive.

The price increases found households less than in June 2023. 15 percent were highly influenced compared to 22 percent in 2023, 43 compared to 47 percent earlier. 27 percent currently do not feel inflation, 2023 said only 21 percent. The share that did not even notice the price increases remained the same with 5 percent. For the study, 1034 people, representative of the Austrian population from the age of 16, were interviewed in personal interviews in March.

Go and order less food
Most Austrians save on eating and ordering food (29 percent), 22 percent each drove their dispositions and facilities or do without furniture and decoration. On holiday and gifts, 19 percent meat the belt closer. 18 percent is exposed to clothing and shoes, as well as electronic devices. Not saving at all – can – 22 percent on rent, a fifth is not limited during sport.

The average price – without a discount or offer – for one kilogram of bread was estimated at 3.50 euros, for a liter of milk at 1.48 euros and for 250 grams of butter at EUR 2.58. More than 80 percent of the respondents said that butter, cheese, bread, milk, eggs, salmon fillets and beef had become more expensive. Even with full milk chocolate, flour, sugar, powder connection, apples, chicken meat, rice, potatoes, pork and coca-cola, more than 60 percent noticed a price.

Use promotions and obtain offers
Consumers (about 60 percent) meet the higher prices with increased attention for promotions and obtaining different offers – this remained the same compared to 2023. Device apps from the supermarkets use 48 percent. Fewer products currently buy 42 percent, while two years ago 52 percent of the crowd.

Used products do not come to the Sacker and Mrs. Oberösterreicher – About 70 percent hardly use this possibility, only 23 percent save something like that. In 2023, 31 percent were still ready to protect the Börserl with shopping in the second hand.
