59 percent of the Austrians have the money for a trip in the summer of this year, 42 percent want to stay in the country. According to Austria, both values advertise a bit over the previous year. So the holiday content is great, but the side editions are stored. But foreigners will probably also storm Austria.
In particular, 22.5 million people will soon or probably soon think on vacation, such a large study in the ten most important countries of origin of our guests. “Whether it is walking, culinary or culture, a million people more than in the previous year that we want,” says Astrid Stharnig-Stadinger, head of Austria advertising (ÖW) about the upward trend. For the Germans and Swiss people we are in the number of their holiday destinations, with Czeches and Italians in eleven. Tourism is therefore “the only branch of the economy that develops positively and therefore a miracle weapon against the recession,” adds tourism secretary Elisabeth Zehetner.
But even if more is traveled, the Austrians in particular look more at the money. They use different strategies. 54 percent of all respondents prefer to make several short vacations than a long one. Only 14 percent said that in 2023 an average of 3-4 days are now common for every stay, in the 1970s it was still the classic entire week.
And the belt is then tied closer to the holiday destination itself. Only 20 percent do not intend to save. On the other hand, 30 percent, on the other hand, want to limit visits to restaurants and cafés. A quarter limits each with souvenirs and other purchases. A good fifth is also looking for cheaper accommodation. That is why commercially rented holiday apartments, holiday villages and aparthotels are becoming more important, the offer for this has grown for years. And if you are not bound by school holidays, use the cheaper accommodation prices in the low season. On average, Austrians released € 279 per day last summer. Including foreign tourists, it was statistically 157 euros to 233 euros per day, depending on the country of origin. Scandinavians, British and Swiss were very generous.
Despite the price increases, however, there is less left for the companies and the costs rise faster. The government is therefore planting concrete lighting for industry. Bovendien wil men het contingent van seizoensgebonden troepen uit derde landen vergroten, werken in toerisme voor vrouwen en Older people more attractive and the financing aids through the hotel and the tourist bank.
