On the Uber Driving Service Platform, women in Germany can choose to be brought to their destination exclusively by a driver. The company said that the company wanted to strengthen women in particular at night. An additional costs should not be paid.
Customers only have to indicate their gender in the app. This step is not only to increase the feeling of safety of the female passengers, but also that of the drivers. From now on these can also be set to only receive questions from women.
The share of drivers on the Uber platform is still very low in Germany. This can lead to it taking a little longer before a trip for women is taught, the company said. First of all there is the choice in Berlin, Frankfurt and Munich. This was introduced in Paris last year.
No offer in Austria for the time being
The possibility will not be introduced in Austria for the time being. So far, it has not been determined whether and when it comes. In Germany there will also be the option to be powered by a woman, at least preferably and not by a man.
The company does not operate its own vehicle fleets. Instead, it offers travel to car rental companies where the staff is also employed.
