The German car manufacturers Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Volkswagen are currently negotiating possible American rates. According to insiders, it is about a mechanism in which imports are compensated against the US exports.
It is easier for customs in exchange for billions of investments in the United States. It was said from industrial circles that the German car manufacturers hoped for an agreement from the White House with the individual companies in June.
BMW announced that they are in close dialogue with different stakeholders in the US, also with political representatives at different levels. The German car manufacturer did not comment on the current negotiation. CEO Ola Kälenius von Mercedes-Benz had stated at the end of April to be in an interview with the US government about a possible expansion of the American factory in Tuscaloosa and announced the production of another SUV model.
