The German economy stimulates the use of artificial intelligence (AI). Currently, 40.9 percent of companies used AI in their business processes, as the Munich IFO Institute announced on Monday as his survey. In the previous year it was only 27 percent. Another 18.9 percent plan that the AI will start in the coming months.
“AI is increasingly becoming a strategic topic in the company,” said IFO transport leader Klaus Wohlrabe. “The challenge is to integrate them wisely into existing processes.”
The use in the main building sector has increased particularly considerably: the share has risen from 7.1 to 25 percent within two years. The use of AI increased from 10 to almost 34 percent on the market. In the processing industry and the service providers, more than 40 percent AI AL AI uses. “The change is noticeable: instead of talking about AI, many companies now use them actively,” said Wohlrabe.

According to the IFO Institute, there are significant differences in the industries. Companies in advertising and market research use AI in particular often – now it is 84.3 percent. The IT service providers (73.7 percent) also strongly stimulate the use of intelligent systems. With 70.4 percent, the car industry also focuses on data -based processes in production.
Around every second company uses artificial intelligence in the chemical industry and mechanical engineering. Gastronomy (31.3 percent), food and drink manufacturers (around 21 percent) and textile producers (18.8 percent) are reserved here.
“A clear connection is clear with the size of the company,” said the IFO researchers. While 56 percent of large companies use AI, it is 38 percent for small and medium -sized companies and only 31 percent for small companies. Nevertheless, an increasing interest rate can also be seen in smaller companies. Many are in the planning or discussion phase.
At the same time, there are industries in which the use of artificial intelligence is rarely discussed. In the retail trade it is currently no problem for 22.2 percent of companies, in which gastronomy and the most important construction sector even around 27 percent. “This will remain reluctant to use other industries when it comes to a future strategy for the use of artificial intelligence,” said ifo expert Wohlrabke.
