German technology group Bosch is expanding its semiconductor business. By 2026, a further three billion euros will flow to the division as part of the EU funding program IPCEI, as the company has explained. Microelectronics are an important success factor for all Bosch activities.
“In the interest of our customers, we are preparing for an unabated growing demand for chips. For us, there is big business in the smallest components,” says Bosch boss Stefan Hartung. Development centers are planned at the two semiconductor sites, Reutlingen and Dresden, among other things, which will be built for a total of 170 million euros.
In Dresden, the location, which only opened in 2021, will be expanded next year for 250 million euros. Due to high demand, the production of MEMS sensors and silicon carbide chips is expanding.
