More than 330,000 Austrians currently do not have a cash machine in their community. The Austrian National Bank is now acting and puts on its own ATMs. The first is already open – in the state in which most residents are affected.
According to the updated OENB data, 342 municipalities have no ATM, which was around 16 percent of all Austrian communities. The number of results of the number of municipalities that do not have a cash machine and not a banking point in the municipal area (328) plus the municipalities in which there is a bank branch (with opening hours per hour), but no ATM (14).
About 7 percent of the lower Austrian population lives in the lower Austria. 113 Lower Austrian communities currently have no money spending. In Lower Austria, the Oysteric National Bank (OENB) also opened its first ATM in Obritzberg-Rust on Tuesday, and up to 120 money spending in Austria must be set up in the next two years.
In Upper Austria, more than 61,000 inhabitants are hit in 60 municipalities, around 48,000 (28 municipalities) in Styria and nearly 43,000 inhabitants (52 communities) in Burgenland. Salzburg is the least affected by six municipalities and nearly 3000 inhabitants. There were not those affected in Vienna, the 23 districts were used as a database.
Share the highest in Burgenland
With about 30 percent, the share of Burgenland communities without ATM in federal state comparison is the highest, followed by Lager Austria (almost 20 percent), Tyrol and Vorarlberg (about 19 percent each). Salzburg has the lowest share of around five percent.
Long ways to the ATM
Long distances to the next ATM must also be accepted in some districts, including in the Waldviertel in Lower Austria. There are six municipalities in the GMünd district in which the residents do not have a cash machine in a radius of less than five kilometers. In the Horn District there are four municipalities in the Waidhofen district on the Thaya. There are also larger gaps in Burgenland. There, seven municipalities in the Güssing district are further than five kilometers of the next ATM, and there are four communities in the Oberwart district.
According to the OENB data of 2024-before the opening of the new ATM in Obritzberg-Rust-87 municipalities, there was no money publisher at a distance of less than five kilometers. For six municipalities, the next ATM was even further than ten kilometers away.
