Large investments in two important streets in Tyrol! The country offers more than six million for the repair of the Ötztal and Pitztalstrasse. Severe weather conditions from 2023 and 2024 were the trigger.
Time and again, flood and degenerate events cause damage to the Ötztal and Pitztalstrasse. To ensure security in the case of acute cases, the state of Tyrol is now investing in these two places: 6.2 million euros is made available for recovery and security work.
“Safe road connections are essential for daily life. Because of the topography of Tyrol, however, are repeatedly influenced by natural events – climate change can be assumed,” says LHSTV Josef Geisler.
In the summer of 2023, for example, the Ötztaler Ache broke a piece of the street of 150 meter. The cycle path was repaired for the time being. Now the work is considered completed: in particular six reinforced concrete transverse rods have been reorganized as a only fuse, to which water modules were anchored, reorganized, a stone cross -rang filled with repaired and reinforced concrete and a ranger cover corresponds to the current state of technology.
After a slope in December 2023, Pitztalstraße was also closed for about a week in the Pillerbach Bridge area. Thanks to extensive immediate measures, the road was quickly opened again.
