Two funding pots – This is how much money Austria will receive from the EU by 2027

Date:

The European Commission has confirmed the EUR 600 million funding framework submitted by Austria for regional policy projects. The money will be allocated for the “Investments in Jobs and Growth Austria 2021-2027 – ERDF & JTF” program and will come from two funding pools. Styria and Lower Austria benefit the most from this, receiving about half of the funding.

EUR 521 million is available from the Regional Fund (ERDF) and EUR 76 million from the Just Transition to a Climate Neutral Economy (JTF) Fund.

Half of the funding for two federal states
Styria (24.8 percent) and Lower Austria (23.4 percent) receive the highest funding rate from the ERDF, accounting for about half of the funding, as reported by the Austrian Conference on Spatial Planning (ÖROK). Upper Austria (15.2 percent) and Carinthia (10.7 percent) together make up a quarter. This is followed by Tyrol (7 percent), Vienna (5.2 percent), Salzburg (4.5 percent) and Vorarlberg (3.8 percent).

Burgenland, which was recognized as a “transition region” with higher funding rates, has a special status. 28 million euros or 5.4 percent of the resources from the ERDF are available. Funding from the JTF will go to Styria and Upper Austria (32 percent each), as well as Lower Austria and Carinthia (18 percent). In the 2014-2020 period, a total of EUR 536 million was available from the ERDF.
