Don’t worry if you don’t have a reservation right now. They are always welcome. We still have places for you with a beautiful view and acoustics. Please join me here, if you’d be so kind. I’ll leave you the wine list. Almost all of them date from the period between 1800 and 1950, although you already know that in our cellar most of our wines date from the second half of the 18th century. Don Octavio immediately comes up with his trial proposals.
It’s a pleasure to have you back home. I hope everything is to your liking. If you allow me, I’ll tell you what’s new for this season. All our dishes are international, although German and French dishes predominate, without neglecting the Austrian, English, Italian or local specialities.
Among the entrees I recommend are Debussy’s Prelude to the Faun’s Siesta, Bizet’s Arlesian Suite, Mussorsky’s A Night on Bald Mountain, Turina’s Bullfighter’s Prayer, Sibelius’ Sad Waltz, Fanny Mendelssohn’s Overture, Handel’s Orlando Overture or, if you prefer, Barker something more exotic and Fernie’s Kisoboka.
Among the appetizers, I would like to propose solo piano music by Beethoven, Chopin, Granados and Liszt.
As for the main courses, I suggest you start with a concert and continue with a symphony. For violin lovers, the concerts of Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky and Beethoven are highly recommended. Another option along the same lines would be Dvorak’s cello concerto. On this occasion they could also opt for Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez, Strauss’s with four horns or Mozart’s with two pianos.
In the group of symphonies there are certainly eleven that are essential to taste this season. Mendelssohn’s Fourth, Schubert’s Ninth, Schumann’s Third, Brahms’ Fourth, Tchaikovsky’s First and Sixth, Sibelius’ Fifth, Shostakovich’s Fifth, and of course Beethoven’s Ninth.
For a minimum of two people we have special dishes such as Stravinsky’s Bird of Fire, Mahler’s Song of the Earth and Homage to the Earth with pieces in Baroque style.
The novelty of the menu is the work for metals by Ricardo Mollá. Don’t ask me too much because it’s a premiere work.
Among the desserts, we have Bach’s Cantatas, the Gaelic Symphony of Beach, Britten’s Symphony da requiem, the Scarlatti’s Symphonies, and some other sweet surprises.
In addition to Virginia Martinez, our prestigious and international chef, who is involved in the planning of the menu as well as in the presentation and staging of half of our offer, we have workshops with illustrious guest chefs such as Yaron Traub, Jordi Savall, Sakari Oramo , Albert Alcaraz, David Grimal, Maximiano Valdes, Sylvain Gasançon or Ylich Rivas.
These masters of artistic direction and elaboration of our suggestions are accompanied by violinists such as Inmo Yang, Manfredo Kraemer, Albert Alcaraz, David Grimall, Soyoung Yoon; cellists such as Beatriz Blanco; pianists like Javier Perianes or the Labèque Sisters, lyrical singers like José Antonio López, Berna Perles, Cristina Faus, José Luis Sola or David Menéndez; guitarists like Pablo Sanz Villegas and the professors of the wind and brass section of OSRM.
Our menu adapts to all appetites and you can already book to taste it in whole or in part. Most importantly, the Regional Auditorium will be the great house of classical music for another year where we all see each other. Don Octavio’s presence will linger in every corner of the building he saw being built, contributing his suggestions so wisely focused on prioritizing the acoustics and stage above the rest. Part of his eternal legacy lives in this unique culture temple.
