The chain is restructuring its morning slot with a revamped ‘La Hora de La 1’ and the premiere of ‘Hablando Claro’
Gone are those television mornings when Manuel Torreiglesias’ health advice reigned supreme in “Saber Vivir” (TVE) or María Teresa Campos’ relaxed conversations creeping in “Día a día” (Telecinco) that captivated viewers. It was another time, when the information was left behind for the afternoon news.
However, television has changed and competition has evolved. The immediate and uninterrupted company are the small screen’s only weapons against the change in consumption habits of the new audiences powered by the platforms. And in this context, La 1 returns to rediscover the daily pulse for current affairs to reconnect with a morning audience that has emigrated to other channels in recent years.
From September 12, the public will enter a new phase with a thorough restructuring of the morning slot starting at 08:00 with a renewed format of ‘La Hora de La 1’. The program shifts its start time by half an hour, with a more European schedule, and will be hosted for the second year in a row by Silvia Intxaurrondo and Marc Sala. The company’s management retains confidence in both professionals, who debuted on TVE in September 2021, replacing Mónica López.
The third season of the format, the company explains, will premiere a line of graphics and decoration, while retaining “the best experts and specialists in every matter” and also interviews “with the protagonists of the news”.
The big news on the morning of La 1 comes from 11.30 am with ‘Speaking clear’, a new format presented by Lourdes Maldonado and Marc Calderó that will run until the start of the first edition of ‘Telediario’. The public broadcaster has drawn external signings and publicly recognized faces for this program – produced by RTVE in association with Cuarzo – which will run on the “minute” of the news that will take place at that time of the day, when they have a large generate some of the news.
In addition to the presenters, in addition to reports, interviews or firsts, there will also be a large team of reporters on the street. In this context, Maldonado will be responsible for presenting the current events of the day and leading a discussion, while Calderó will “take the pulse of the most relevant content, expand data and relate headlines and news.”
Both communicators make their debut on RTVE after extensive professional experience in the media. In the case of the Basque journalist, she returns to national television after directing and presenting the first edition of ‘Telenoticias’, on the regional Telemadrid. Previously, he spent his professional career in the news of Antena 3. For his part, the Catalan presenter jumps to the public channel of Telecinco, where he became “number two” of Sonsoles Ónega in “Ya es noon”. Now he will take on his former teammates, as ‘Speaking Clear’ will coincide with Mediaset magazine, which will also feature Joaquín Prat as the new presenter. What won’t go through, at least in the daily edition (it will go on over the weekend), is Anne Igartiburu’s veteran ‘Corazón’.
With ‘Speaking clear’, La 1 tries again with a conclusion in which it fails to captivate the viewers and which Telecinco dominates for decades with ‘El programa de Ana Rosa’. In the previous season, the public channel tried to fill the gap left by the cancellation of ‘Las cosa claras’, by Jesús Cintora, with a program entitled ‘Better with you’, presented by Ion Aramendi. The space started in September and reduced its duration after the low screen quota, until its cancellation in February.
Later, the first channel reinstated the kitchen with the Torres brothers, in an attempt to scratch some audience from veteran chef Karlos Arguiñano on A3, but the results were not as expected.
